Best BLT sandwiches ever. Tasty pastries. Casual settings - Carson City, Minden, East Washoe Valley.

If you're looking for a hidden gem and you're in the Minden Gardnerville area definitely make sure you swing by shots not only are they known for their pastries. They offer for breakfast and lunch as well, which is completely off the hook. If you are the true food or culinarian that likes to support a local young Chef this is a place to do it. There's definitely a bright future for this location.

Schat's is a great place to stop in for lunch and a sweet treat. I got the Dutch Dip with sweet potato fries, and they did not disappoint! They were some of the best sweet potato fries I've had recently! I also liked the dining area. There's plenty of booths to sit at which gave it a cozy vibe.

Located in an old brick building with a tin ceiling painted black, this place gives off historic mixed with farmhouse vibes. Wooden wall behind a row of bench seats, heavy wood dividers with orange and beige seats. Chunky light fixtures tie it all together. Lots of various dessert slices in the case, full loaves and cakes to purchase as well. Bagel sandwich was excellent for breakfast, served hot, eggs had seasoning, and the bagel was really good. This would have been a 5-star experience but for the gal working the counter who was rude and pushy like we were inconveniencing her by coming in.

I posted the most recent menus and a video from my visit today. People were super friendly, I was a little concerned because there was a yelp post a few minutes ago where they were not very friendly but I think I know who that person was behind the counter. Anyway I got the avocado toast with bacon. Avocado toast was delicious but my bacon was beyond burnt so I took off one star for that. I love my bacon well done but this bacon was burnt black. They have all kinds of delicious items and I got two loaves of sourdough to take back home to California. They have breakfast burritos and a cute place to sit outside or inside. They also have espresso coffees, ice cream, sandwiches, desserts and beautiful cakes, etc. I highly recommend.

We finally got to visit the very famous Schats bakery which is just one of a few throughout Nevada and California! We visited on a Sunday morning around 7:30 AM, there was plenty of parking and the restaurant was open and had quite a few people there already. Immediately we were starving and as soon as you walk in, you'll see that they have a ton of bread and pastries for sale. We picked up a loaf of banana bread to bring home to our neighbors. We ordered baklava to go, a blueberry scone, the chorizo burrito to dine in, and a vanilla iced Chai which we ordered per a Yelp recommendation. The line moved quickly and we were able to sit down in a booth. This the first thing I noticed when we sat down it was how impeccably clean the entire restaurant was. It's connected to a casino which is also super clean and the entire town felt so quaint and cute. We definitely kind of fell in love with Minden at this point! The chorizo burrito was a generous portion and so delicious, my favorite part was the green salsa that went on top. NOT spicy, but YUM!! Looks like it was made in-house. My partner loved his blueberry scone, it was so soft and fresh with a beautiful crystallization on the outside. He also loved the ice vanilla chai, which was suuuper sweet, but he didn't mind. The service was wonderful and the atmosphere was beautiful. One of the only things we found to be strange however, is that there is no Wi-Fi. Overall, definitely a 5-star experience, and we will definitely come back if we are popping through Minden again.

Unbelievable bakery. Great pastry choices and the bread is to die for. It is decorated extremely well and has a comfortable ambience. I enjoyed grabbing a tea and pastry and sitting at the elevated table by the front window to people watch. They share the restroom with the attached C.O.D Casino. We saw another Schat's in Carson City while we traveled through there.
